Bandai Namco has announced the arrival of a new version of its successful Pac-Man 256 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The title, which debuted on mobile platforms and became one of the most downloaded games, will land on new platforms on June 21 at a price of $4.99 in digital download.

The game from Hipster Whale coincides with the 36th anniversary of the character, and offers local multiplayer options – up to four users on the same console or PC – exclusive to this version.

“We have enjoyed working with Bandai Namco Entertainment and Hipster Whale in the Pac-Man 256 for mobile, and now have the opportunity to pass it on to the next generation of consoles and PC means and put the icing on the cake. We are looking forward to seeing how the players have fun,” said Seon Rozenblum, director of 3 Sprockets.

Benjamin Prenom, project manager at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, SAS, commented: ” We want everyone to enjoy Pac-Man 256 so the logical thing was to make it available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The new local multiplayer, exclusive to the console and PC versions makes it even more accessible: Get ready for maximum fun playing up to four friends at the same time!”.

Local multiplayer will allow up to four players and despite being cooperative, each person will have their own score. The game only ends when all die. Players can go ahead and do everything for survival that will give them the highest score.

Pac-Man 256 will be available for PlayStation 4 on the PlayStation Network, for Xbox One on the Xbox Games Store and PC via Steam at the special price of $4.99.
