After almost 7 years in the market, Sony’s ill-fated portable console, PlayStation Vita, continues to slowly advance toward what will be the end of its cycle and a few moments ago important information was revealed that has to do with its games in the physical edition.

According to a report by Jason Schreier, editor of Kotaku, the representatives of Sony in the United States and Europe confirmed that the cessation in the manufacture of physical games for PS Vita already has a definite date.

The disclosed communication indicates that it will be at the end of the fiscal year 2018, which for Sony ends on March 31, 2019, when the PlayStation Vita Game Card will be discontinued, so that from that date, the console will only maintain the content distributed digitally. At the same time, the company informed that it will accept product code requests for the manufacture of cards until June 28 of this year and the final purchase orders will have an entry deadline of February 15, 2019.

Thus, a new decision from Sony closes more the panorama for PS Vita, a console that will stop having monthly games, along with PlayStation 3, in the PlayStation Plus service in March 2019. However, the portable console will continue to receive content and will remain active in this area, so there is still some time left for it to be discontinued.

That’s why last year, during the holiday season, Sony was encouraged to launch PS Vita packages in the Japanese market. What do you think about the decision of Sony? Tell us in the comments below.
