Xbox Live Monthly Active Users Grew 13% To 53 Million
Recently, Microsoft published the financial results related to the first quarter of the fiscal year 2018, which corresponds from July 1 to September 30.
As far as we can see, revenues in the gaming area grew 1% compared to the same period last year, that is, from $1.88 billion to $1.89 billion. This is interesting because the rise is due to the sale of software and gaming services such as Xbox LIVE. In comparison, software revenues were lower.

Also, active users per month of Xbox LIVE increased 13% reaching 53 million. Although this figure grew compared to last year, it remains the same as the last quarter of 2017.

During this earnings report, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, announced that the company plans to expand its gaming business. “We will mobilize to pursue our opportunity for expansion in the video game industry that today is a business of billions,” he said. “We will expand our way of thinking about video games in a complete way, from the way they are developed and distributed to the way they are played and viewed.”
