Zelda: The Wind Waker Prototype/Debug Possibly Found

A member of the Assembler Games forum posted a photo of the alleged first prototype of The Wind Waker for GameCube, which was being developed between 1999 and 2003.

The image in question shows a temporary logo slightly different from the official one and, importantly, the word “confidential” at the bottom of the screen, which would suggest a build made to actually run on a debug console.

On the forum of Assembler Games, a discussion has been triggered between those who consider the shot absolutely original and there are others who instead suggest of a fake design. Difficult to know more, what are your opinions on the same?

In recent news, the creative director of Ubisoft Milan, Davide Soliani, the mind behind Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, showed a demo of Zelda: The Wind Waker for GBA he worked upon. He released a Tweet in which he told an episode dating back to 2003.

“Long time ago, I guess it was the 2003, me and Fabio Pagetti (the artist who made the pixel art below) almost convinced our managing director to let us produce a demo for a GBA version of Wind Waker. No luck that time, but it was running nicely. We were dreamers,” Soliani said on this Twitter account.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was released in 2003 on GameCube and in 2013 on Nintendo Wii U, with a fairly successful HD remake.
