Wii U Production Official Ends in Japan

0 309

Nintendo of Japan has announced a halt to the production of the Wii U, at least as far as the country of the rising sun has considered. The bundle of Premium Set and Splatoon Set (the only ones available in Asia) will no longer be produced and will remain available only while supplies last.

Some time ago we had already discussed the possible end of the production of Nintendo Wii U and, on the Japanese site of the Big N, it was announced that production of the console would be finished soon.

According to the report, it seems that the time has come, in fact on the site of Nintendo Japan, the hardware section dedicated to Wii U, there appeared the announcement of the closure of production in Japan.

It was not immediately clear whether the end of the production will also be extended to the western market, although the hypothesis appears very likely. Since the launch of Switch is nearly upon us, it is very likely that a similar communication will be made in the coming days also for Europe and North America.

In the last quarter, the company has distributed only 200,000 consoles in the world market, an unsatisfactory figure that marks in fact the end of the project Wii U.

Since 2012 to date, the Nintendo platform has placed 13.56 million units worldwide.
