Ubisoft: PlayStation 5 and Next Xbox Are “Minimum Of Two Years” Away
Xbox One X was Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro. However, the same companies believe that the consoles are not a new generation. Rather, they are considered a hardware revision and update. However, players are still waiting for a hypothetical PlayStation 5 and a new Xbox.
Yves Guillemot, executive manager of Ubisoft, recently spoke on the subject. The director gave his forecasts for the launch of new consoles by Sony and Microsoft. According to Guillemot, it is not long for this, because he believes that at least in 2 years we will see new platforms.
“As Sony launched PlayStation 4 Pro last year and Microsoft Xbox One X this year, we think we still have a minimum of two years in front of us before something new is coming. But that’s our perception, we don’t have any confidential information on that front,” commented the manager.
Later, Guillemot said, on behalf of Ubisoft, that he likes the idea of hardware upgrades. According to him, this strategy helps the industry in general and will contribute to having better systems in the future.
“We really like the fact that Sony and Microsoft are really putting more power in their machines, using the evolution of technology to give power to our developers to create better games for our players. That is going in the right direction rather than trying to do accessories or other things. That is going to help the industry a lot because the games will be really beautiful on those machines,” concluded Guillemot.
The company yesterday presented its financial balance for the first half of the fiscal year, which yielded positive results. In June 2017, Sony said there is still a long wait to see PlayStation 5.
