Ubisoft: Avatar Game Will Not Release Before Fiscal Year 2021

When Ubisoft confirmed that The Division 2 is under development, there was great enthusiasm from the fans. Others, however, have wondered what would have happened to Avatar.

Last year Ubisoft announced the opening of a new studio in Stockholm, currently working on the new Avatar game in collaboration with Ubisoft Massive. The game is still under development, but do not expect it to be released soon.

Nothing is known about the project yet, however, a spokesman for the French company has recently declared that the game will not be ready before the fiscal year 2021 (ie from April 2020 onwards). There will be a new movie developed by James Cameron and then we will be able to experience the world of Avatar directly with Ubisoft.

“Avatar is one of the biggest and most powerful entertainment brands … we have great plans for the new one, with a very strong studio and engine. The movie will be released end of 2020, so our game won’t be released before FY21,” declared the publisher’s representative to IGN.

In short, compared to James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game, tied-in game proposed on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 since 2009, the new title promises to be decidedly more ambitious. The lead of the project, as we remember, was entrusted to the former general manager of DICE, Patrick Bach.
