Today, CD Projekt RED released its financial results for the fiscal year 2017. Specifically, the company pointed out that, in terms of sales, last year it had a better performance than 2016, all thanks to The Witcher series.

By the end of 2017, the company managed to sell 33 million copies together of The Witcher, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In the presentation made by CD Projekt RED, we can see that The Witcher 2 sold 4 times more than the original title, but the third installment generated 11 times more revenue than the sequel. On the other hand, expansions sold 15 times more than past DLC.

Also, we know the percentage of copies sold of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for each platform. During its launch in 2015, the PS4 version had better sales, although in 2016 and 2017 the title for PC was the most requested. For its part, the Xbox One edition was always in third place. In addition, the game had higher digital sales during 2015, but in the following years, users preferred to buy a digital copy.

In related information, recently Bandai Namco Entertainment and CD Projekt RED announced their collaboration to take Geralt de Rivia to Soulcalibur VI. This is the first appearance of the character in another title, which will surely be exciting for the wizard’s fans.

Looking to the future, it seems that the studio is preparing the great revelation of Cyberpunk 2077. The game is more ambitious than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and will reach current systems and future platforms.
