The Witcher 3 on Switch Can Run At 60 FPS On Overclocked Consoles
Seeing The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch is already a miracle in itself, but it is far from being the ideal version of the game. Those with a Modded Switch console, however, can play something that looks far better.
The default game runs at 720p and 30fps in dock mode, the modders have however discovered that the Switch version is only a porting of the PC edition running at very low settings and that, scrolling in a file, you can unlock the graphics options of the PC version.
Overclocking the system and disabling the dynamic resolution of the game, as well as increasing other settings such as foliage density and post-processing effects, you will get a version of The Witcher 3 that looks much better than the “official” one and it also runs at 60fps.
The Youtube channel Modern Vintage Gamer showed in one of his videos how it is possible to reach 60 FPS on Nintendo Switch. The first step is to do modding. You then move on to overclocking and then adjusting the graphics and performance settings of The Witcher 3.
Running at 540p in portable mode, with maximum overclocking, we see that The Witcher 3’s framerate fluctuates between 50 and 60 FPS. Modders have also been able to change the post-processing effects so that the game is more defined and not so blurry.
Although we are sharing these findings, we do not advise anyone to mod your Nintendo Switch. Firstly you will lose the warranty; second you can mess up and ruin the console.
