Tekken 7 developer says cross-play between Xbox One/PS4 is up to Sony

Tekken 7 will come next year to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and being a fighting game, many fans are asking whether there is a cross-play between these systems. Well, if you too are in favor of this feature, Bandai Namco has a suggestion for you: ask Sony to make it possible.
On Twitter a fan questioned Michael Murray, designer of Tekken 7, if there was the possibility that there could be cross-play on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, to which the developer replied “please ask Sony. Microsoft already publicly said they’re interested in cross platform.”

In April, Microsoft announced that they were ready and willing to have a cross-platform between Xbox LIVE system and service of Sony, PlayStation Network. However, the Japanese company has shown lukewarm in this respect, and still does not give a position on it.
A clear example of this situation is the title of Psyonix, Rocket League, which has a ready infrastructure for cross-play between the current consoles. ” Well, right now we’re literally at the point where all we need is the go-ahead on the Sony side and we can, in less than a business day, turn it on and have it up and working no problem,” said the studio in July.
Tekken 7 is already available in Japanese arcades, but will debut in January 2017 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with Akuma from Street Fighter as a guest character.
What do you think about this news? Would you like Tekken 7 to have cross-play?
