Take-Two Criticizes Donald Trump Blaming Video Games for Mass Shooting
Following the recent and bloody shootings in the United States, President Donald Trump gave a speech in which he said, among other things, that video games are also responsible for such violence.
“We stop the glorification of violence in our society, this includes the gruesome and grisly video games that are now commonplace” – declared the American President.
After such an attack, some faces of the industry (and thousands of gamers) of video games criticized these statements, in particular, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, responded in kind with these words:
“We’re just sickened and saddened by these senseless tragedies,” Zelnick said. “That said, blaming entertainment is irresponsible. Moreover, it is highly disrespectful to the victims and their families. The fact is entertainment is consumed world-wide…but gun violence is uniquely American. So we need to address the real issues,” Zelnick stated in an interview to Barrons.
Indeed the statement of Strauss Zelnick does not make a turn, also if really the problem of such episodes was really the entertainment industry (which makes you smile already so), why take it only with video games and not with films, literary works and music?
Perhaps the various responsible bodies should ask themselves some questions about the easy availability of firearms, instead of wasting time pointing the finger at video games. Having said this, we can only offer our condolences to the families of the victims.
