Take-Two Interactive Announces Private Division, Will Publish Obisidian’s Next RPG
Take-Two Interactive announces the creation of Private Division, a new publishing label based in New York specializing in the publication of independent developer productions.
Among the first published titles to be published by Private Division we find ANCESTORS: The Humankind Odyssey by Panache Digital Games, the studio founded by the creator of Assassin’s Creed, Project Wright, the new RPG by Obsidian Entertainment (not yet announced), a Sci-Fi FPS developed by V1 Interactive (studio founded by the co-creator of Halo Marcus Lehto) and Kerbal Space Program.
“We have spent more than two years laying the groundwork for Private Division, building an experienced publishing team and signing projects with some the most respected and talented creative leaders in our industry,” said Michael Worosz, SVP and Head of Independent Publishing at Take-Two. “We see a growing number of independent studios in our industry creating high-quality games based on new IP, and our focus is supporting these types of developers and projects, and ultimately bringing incredible experiences to gamers around the world.”
Private Division will have its headquarters in New York, although they will have representation in Seattle and Munich, and will continue to respond to Take-Two Interactive Software as an editorial stamp. Private Division thus becomes the third brand of Take-Two, expanding the existing family with Rockstar Games and 2K.
The details on the release dates of these projects are not yet known, so we are waiting to learn more about the next steps of the Private Division.
