Edmund McMillen, designer best known for being the mind behind Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, revealed that he is working on a new project.
In an entry on the official blog of The Binding of Isaac, McMillen said that in recent months he has dedicated a lot of time to a new game, which he is developing alongside programmer Tyler Glaiel. The creative said that very little is required to be announced.
“Not many of you know this, but Tyler and I have been in crunch mode for the past 3 months trying to finish this secret project. We are coming close to announcing it and its release date, so keep and eye out for it,” said McMillen.
If you’ve been listening to the news, you probably know that McMillen and Glaiel are doing Ouroboros; However, it seems that this secret project is something different. Also, it is very likely that this announcement is not related to The Legend of Bum-bo, another of the games that McMillen is developing.
That said, the only thing we know of him is that for McMillen it is “hard, it’s weird, it’s personal,” plus it has “amazing controls” and it is an unannounced IP. The creative also believes that it is one of the biggest games he has done.
The most recent release of a McMillen game is The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, which includes The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and all the content it has received since its release. This title is available on Nintendo Switch and PC, but is expected to arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before the end of spring.
