Studio Behind Assassin’s Creed, Batman Port ‘Virtuos’ Bringing a “AAA Title To Nintendo Switch”
Virtuos, a studio responsible for the development of titles such as Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, Batman: Return to Arkham and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, is currently working on porting a Triple A title on Nintendo Switch.
The indiscretion was collected by the YouTubeTrader called Doctre81, who reported on the NeoGAF forum the LinkedIn profile of a Virtuos programmer that has reported his work-in-progress project of a Triple A port for Nintendo Switch.
On the profile of the programmer, Xiaoyu Zhang, you can read this:
WIP: Porting a AAA title to Nintendo Switch
– Re-implement the renderer with Nintendo’s native graphics API (Nvn)
– Design and implement the low level mechanism of graphics resource management and threading
– Exploit the performance advantages of the Vulkan-like API (UMA , Explicit management of graphics memory, complete control over CPU / GPU synchronization, etc.)
The work of the senior programmer started in March 2016, but it is unclear whether the development of the game had begun as early as before or if the work actually started only on his arrival.
At the moment, no further details or clues were given as to what the incoming blockbuster may be on the Big N console that is now available worldwide.
More and more developers and publishers are confident in the future of the new Nintendo console. Recently, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive has called Nintendo Switch as a very interesting console on which he wants to bring more games.
