Octopath Traveler will arrive on Switch in the middle of next month. The Square Enix project is only confirmed to reach the hybrid console, with which the company reaffirms its commitment to Nintendo.
Apparently, Square Enix is preparing even more projects for Switch. Tomoya Asano, the producer of Octopath Traveler, affirmed that his team is already dealing with different games for the Nintendo console.
During a meeting with Game Informer, the creative commented: “Square Enix has decided that it wants to focus on original titles for the Switch.” Asano said that a division of the company will focus on the hybrid console.
For this reason, the developer invited players to consider Switch as an option if they are looking for titles like the new RPG. “There are several other titles that we’re currently working on for Switch. If you could just wait a bit longer, we’ll work with Nintendo and announce them in the future,” Asano added.
So, if Octopath Traveler has a good sales level on Switch, it is likely that Square Enix will try even harder to bring other titles to the console, including new franchises.
Octopath Traveler had a good response from the players. Proof of this is that its demo was downloaded more than 1.3 million times. Square Enix made some changes to the RPG thanks to comments from the community and then showed them in a video.
Octopath Traveler will debut on Nintendo Switch in the next month on July 13.
