Square-Enix is working on a Dragon Quest game based on Unreal Engine 4
Square-Enix is looking for a technical director for a new project related to the Dragon Quest series, developed with the Unreal Engine 4. This is what emerges from a recent job announcement published by the Japanese company.
In the announcement, Square-Enix openly quotes the Dragon Quest series, thus making it clear the will to start working on a new franchise of the game.

As a Dragon Quest series technical artist, you will perform the following duties:
1. Creation of shaders in Unreal Engine 4
2. Inspection, as well as proposal, of expression techniques in order to enhance quality
3. Artist workflow organization and improvement
4. Coordinate with team leads
You can be involved in a project in the national RPG series, Dragon Quest. Proposals of new expression techniques, workflow organization, and such are very important and indispensable to the project. It’s a big responsibility, but it is a position that is very much worth the effort.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age for PlayStation 4 is developed with Unreal Engine 4, in recent years Square-Enix has recreated the Dragon Quest III Aliahan continent with the Epic engine as a technical test, to get familiar with the development platform.
According to some rumors, the publisher would think of a remake of the third episode of Dragon Quest, to be published before Dragon Quest XII. However, it is not excluded that the announcement may be linked to the Dragon Quest 11 Switch version. We are waiting to learn more about it from the publisher.
