Sony Has Shipped 79 Million PS4 Units Worldwide

Sony has announced its results for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. Sony Corporation announced the financial results of the last quarter of the fiscal year 2017, ie the period from January 1 to March 31, 2018. The announcement was obviously accompanied by data from the Games & Network division, which includes the PlayStation brand.
Sony highlights the figure of 79 million PS4 distributed to stores worldwide. 19 million was distributed in the fiscal year that goes from April 1, 2017, to March 31, 2018, out of which 2.5 million corresponds to the last quarter, January-March 2018. This is 1 million less than in the year previous fiscal, although 1 million more than what the company originally envisaged.
Sony expects a larger decline in hardware for next fiscal year, down to the 16 million consoles sold for a total of 95 million. The company expects this fall to be balanced by an increase in software sales.
This year has been positive in this regard: 246.9 million video games have been sold for the platform, 29 million more than the previous year. 32% of the games were sold in digital format, while in the previous year the said percentage was 27%.
PlayStation Plus has added almost 8 million subscribers to PlayStation Plus to a total of 34.2 million premium service users.
In total, Sony’s video game division entered 1.940 billion yen (about 18,000 million dollars), an increase of 18% over the figure of the previous year. For next year they expect the income figure to remain stable at 1,900 billion yen.
