Sonic Mania, nostalgic return to the SEGA 2D games franchise, could be released on August 15th. At least that is what indicates the trailer published on the game page on Steam, Valve’s online store.
For now, the release date of Sonic Mania was not officially confirmed by the studio, only that the release window was set for 2017, close to the arrival of Sonic Forces.
Moreover, we know that Sonic Mania was expected later this summer on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, so the launch date of August 15 seems quite plausible. Now all that remains is to wait for official confirmation from SEGA, which with good probability will not be delayed in the coming days.
Sonic Mania is being developed by SEGA in conjunction with Christian Whitehead, a fan of the mascot who worked on the remastered versions of Sonic CD and of Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 for iOS and Android.
Recall that Sonic Mania is a 2D platformer that takes inspiration from the first three episodes of the series for Mega Drive and productions like Sonic CD and Sonic & Knuckles, offering fast-paced action of the classic chapters of Sonic.
