If you are a fan of the legacy of fighting games that has left the history of SNK, sure you are excited about SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, a title that presents the most emblematic fighters of the Japanese company. This title will come to Switch and PS4, however, in what corresponds to the western continent there is important news for the owners of the Nintendo console as the physical version for the United States will be exclusive to Switch.
In an interview conducted by MCV, Takuro Yamashita, the general director of NIS America, spoke about the agreement with Nintendo that has resulted in the physical version of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy being exclusive to the Switch in the US.
Initially, the director revealed that NIS America only considered the version of the fighting game for PS4, however, Nintendo of Europe approached in an edition of gamescom with the company and with SNK to propose a deal and get the game to reach Switch. The meeting paid off and Nintendo not only managed to get the game to its console but also that the physical version for the USA was exclusive.
In that sense, Yamashita also mentioned that given the exclusivity agreement they have concluded with Nintendo, there will not be a physical edition for PS4 in America: “Physical copy-wise, it’s going to be a Switch exclusive. PS4-wise it’s going to be just digital. That’s the deal. We will not release a packaged version for the PS4 format. Then Nintendo will act as a distributor for this game.” At the same time, the manager informed that it will be Nintendo of America that distributes SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy and this will be possible by purchasing a significant number of copies from NIS America.
Finally, Yamashita stated that the reason why NIS America agreed to enter into an exclusive agreement with Nintendo was the treatment that the company has given them and the sales performance they have had on Switch: “We’re starting to do more on Nintendo Switch. SNK Heroines is not the only one. They support us in a good way. Compared to that, Sony is not friendly with small publishers like us. They just care about big Japanese companies.”
SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy will arrive on September 7 on Nintendo Switch and PS4.
