As you may remember, during the spring of 2017 rumors have spread about the existence of Shenmue 1 & 2 HD Remasters along with Shenmue III, rumors that talked about the presence of the game at the last E3 in Los Angeles and a launch set for December, but it was not the case.
According to insider Liam Robertson, however, not all is lost: Robertson has had the opportunity to speak with some European journalists and some of his sources close to SEGA about the title.
The respondents confirmed that the remastered version of Shenmue 1 and 2 does exist and are currently undergoing development, however, the output has been delayed compared to the original plans, in order not to interfere with the launch of Shenmue III, now scheduled for the end of 2018.
It is not clear at the moment whether the two games will come out in a single format or separately before Shenmue III or if SEGA wants to cast them once Deep Silver has published the third chapter.
It seems that the two companies are in constant communication to decide what to do and avoid launching on the market three products of the same series at the same time, an operation that could damage the sales of all the titles involved.
