Shadow of the Colossus PS4’s Secret Coins Mystery Revealed

A damn reward awaits the coin collectors.

Shadow of the Colossus Remake

Shadow of the Colossus for PlayStation 4 came last week and while it does not add any new colossus, it does present a huge secret that the community spent days deciphering. Fortunately, someone did it, so we already know the answer to one of the biggest mysteries of this remake.

Warning: Spoilers Below

If you are already playing the remake of Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 it is likely that on occasion you have run into a mysterious coin. At first glance, it does not do anything, but as there are several people around the world, the fans began to suspect that they were hiding something.

So, content creators for YouTube like PS4Trophies and Nomad Colossus went to work with a group of fans to discover its meaning. Thanks to this, it did not take long for them to find a clue in the credits of Shadow of the Colossus, which indicated that there were 79 hidden coins.

After much effort and several hours of play, PS4Trophies got all the coins; however, nothing happened. The good thing is that shortly after Nomad Colossus discovered that the hexadecimal value of 79 is 4F, a figure that curiously represents the point of the map where the Shrine of Workship is and invited PS4Trophies to visit a door that for years was a reason for discussion and speculation between the community.

The door opened once PS4Trophies interacted with it, leaving him open to a mysterious new room. There the YouTuber found a kind of throne with a special object: the sword of Dormin, the being with which Wander negotiates to revive Mono. In case you’re wondering, this sword increases attack power but decreases the rate of health regeneration.

Here we present a video with the feat of PS4Trophies. Skip to the time period of 2:23:00 if you are only interested in seeing the moment you enter the secret room.

Shadow of the Colossus arrived on February 6 as an exclusive for PlayStation 4. What did you think of this secret? Do you think that Bluepoint has hidden more things in the remake that is still hidden? Tell us in the comments below.
