Sonic Mania does not seem enough to pay tribute to the blue hedgehog in its 25th Anniversary. Do not worry, as SEGA had another ace up its sleeve. In the event celebrating the birthday of its mascot, the dealer revealed that they are working on another game: Project Sonic 2017.
During its Sonic event at Comic-Con in San Diego, SEGA announced Project Sonic 2017, in addition to Sonic Mania.
Project Sonic 2017 is as clear as the successor to Sonic Generations with classic and modern Sonic. It is supported by the Sonic Team Japan and is expected by the end of 2017 on PS4, Xbox One, NX and Windows PC.
As you can imagine, at the moment there are not many details on this project to be developed by the same team that made Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors. The video shows modern and classic Sonic as the last hope of humanity of Sonic, so it is likely to be a game similar to those of Sonic Generations.
The video depicts a dark world where a city was destroyed by a giant robot, and where Sonic will do everything to bring light into these places. To help, it will particularly have to rely on Sonic of the past, a concept that is reminiscent of Sonic Generations.
According to SEGA, Project Sonic 2017 will reach Nintendo NX, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC before the Christmas of 2017. When there are more details on this game we will share it here.
Without further ado, I will let you look at the first step of this project:
