Sea of Thieves continues to be successful a few days after its arrival on the market. The pirate title of Rare had a great launch because its community amounted to more than 1 million players. To celebrate and thank the entire gaming community, Craig Duncan, the head of Rare, shared a special message.
The manager highlighted the importance of the players in the initial success of Sea of Thieves, which is now the new fastest-selling Microsoft IP of the generation. According to Duncan, the game already has more than 2 million players. And if that was not enough, Sea of Thieves is the best-selling title of Microsoft Studios on Windows 10.
Duncan also spoke of the important social factor that implies to Sea of Thieves. More than 100,000 players have broadcasted the title since its launch, which means that little more than 10 million hours seen last week. Thanks to this, the game occupied the first position on platforms like Twitch and Mixer several times.
Xbox LIVE users have shown their fondness for the cooperative title, as more than 500,000 new friendships have been registered through the service. On the other hand, approximately 400,000 players have joined a club to find playmates.
“We know the response has led to some scale challenges and exposed some bugs we have addressed and will continue to address. Please know that the team at Rare is working hard to tackle any player-impacting issues and this is our number one priority,” said Duncan.
Rare has shown that it listens to its community since it has recently canceled the Cost of Death that would be implemented in the game. In addition, the developers released yesterday the first major update of the title, which ended with some of the problems recorded during its launch.
