SNK is working on a new installment of Samurai Shodown, which was announced last year only for PlayStation 4. Fortunately, the fighting game will not be exclusive to the Sony console.

Through a statement, SNK confirmed that Samurai Shodown will also release on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC this year. Its launch is planned first for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

This version of the game will be available sometime in June. Nintendo Switch and PC users will have to wait a bit longer, since Samurai Shodown is expected to debut between October and December of this year, on a date yet to be confirmed.

SNK commented that the new title is developed with Unreal Engine 4, so it will have incredible 3D graphics. At the same time, it will preserve several classic aspects of the saga. Below you can see its new trailer:

The game promises some new features and characters never seen that will be revealed later. The game will be set in the late 18th century, right after the Samurai Shodown V events and before the first title.

SNK plans several additional post-release contents, including several extra characters. It is important to note that Samurai Shodown is in charge of an internal team of the company, so it will probably leave the fans satisfied.

The game will have a mode with history, a mode to practice your movements, as well as online battles. Also, Dojo will be included, an online mode that uses machine learning to generate a character controlled by artificial intelligence according to your skill level.

Samurai Shodown is in development for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. Soon we will know more about its mechanics, as it will be playable at PAX East 2019.
