Many players were annoyed when Activision announced that the only way to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was to buy the Legacy Edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Now, a few months later, it seems that the remastered version will have an independent release.
The information came about when the online store GameFly placed in their system Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as an independent release, and that’s not all, it seems that the game will be available from July 20.
Later, the same store posted that the version of Modern Warfare Remastered for PlayStation 4 will arrive on June 20, a month before the possible launch on the other platforms, just like the digital version of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
But the situation does not end there, because it seems that Activision talked about this matter a few months ago and no one has noticed this. In an interview with Gamereactor, David Pellas of Raven Software, a studio in charge of the remastered version, commented that the 16 maps of Modern Warfare would be free, with 10 release and 6 maps remaining for “anyone who purchases Modern Warfare Remastered, anyone who owns it or a version of Infinite Warfare that comes with it, they’re going to get all 16 of the maps for no additional cost.”
For now this should be considered as a rumor, so we will have to wait for more information from Activision.
