Rumor: Retro Studios Is Working on A Star Fox Spin-Off Game
In the last few days, there have been several rumors that the new project of Retro Studios, responsible for Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, is a Star Fox spin-off. One of the interesting details is that it seems to be of a racing title.
According to DasVergeben, the supposed insider who usually publishes rumors on Reddit mentioned that this new project is inspired by Diddy Kong Racing and that presents elements of F-Zero. So, the new Star Fox – whose name apparently is Star Fox Grand Prix – would have a kind of story mode with battles against bosses and a world that will work as a Hub.
Shortly after that information was published, a 4chan user posted an image with the supposed Star Fox logo for Switch. It is a simple image that, while it seems to go with the art style of the franchise, it is really something that anyone with a little experience could create in Photoshop.
However, it is important to note that Tom Phillips of Eurogamer that his sources have indicated similar information. While the reporter cannot confirm that Star Fox Grand Prix is the name of the new project of Retro, some details of the information presented above go with what he has heard about it.
Keep in mind that, so far, Nintendo has not made any comment about it, so it’s better that you take this information for what it is: a rumor. Also, remember that E3 2018 is just around the corner, so if this game is really in development it surely is not long before its existence becomes public.
