Resident Evil 8 could be very different from the seventh chapter, Capcom says

Few days ago, a video of the “making of” of Resident Evil VII – Biohazard appeared on the web. The executive producer of the game, Jun Takeuchi, spoke about the franchise anticipating the next chapter (or eighth) could not be too similar to its predecessor, released a few months ago in stores.

According to Takeuchi, in fact, Resident Evil 7 was the beginning of a new type of survival horror and a possible Resident Evil 8 could be very different from its predecessor, as the evolution of technology that will be invested in the market in the coming years that could also change the demands of gamers.

“We want this title to be the start of a new kind of survival horror and of a new series. We’re already thinking about various plans for the next game, but we also want to see how we can continue to evolve survival horror itself,” Jun Takeuchi said.

“In the next few years, technology will continue to advance and what players want may also change, but we will always want to create horror experiences where the characters overcome a difficult situation. That, to me, is what survival horror is all about, and the next Resident Evil game and the one after that, every future Resident Evil, will feature characters getting through crises like this.”

“And so the current masterpiece is just the beginning. Plans for the next title are already in motion and, when you see that game, you may find that it is very different from Resident Evil 7 in some ways, while still retaining that core survival horror concept of people overcoming the odds. Resident Evil will always retain that essence.”

  • I just want say please whatever you do with resident evil 8 but make it third person shooter. I have not played resident evil 7 yet because this is not resident evil…

  • buddy i don’t think u know what real resident evil is! ur better off playing gears of war if u like a more shoot em up action game, capcom ruined everything after re4. re4 was a breakthrough, a new vision that started marching the whole franchise the wrong way. I’ve still played every single re since ps1 and what the games have become these past couple of years isn’t scary at all, nor did i ever feel they were in the survival horror genre, i remember the first three re made almost made me s*it myself, and i was constantly having to worry about my health and ammo, i enjoyed re6 even tho many ppl believe it was a bust and a story that led nowhere, which in a way was very true, but yet i enjoyed it, but now with re7 that feeling of terror has returned, yes it lacked in zombies, but the old feeling of surviving with practically nothing is all back! capcom is finally giving re franchise a chance the revamp everything back to a familiar style that made us love the games in the first place, re should have never been 3rd person, they should have remained in static cams, but the first person is a step up cause f all the vr gaining popularity by the minute, anyways just to say that starting at re 5 n 6 and all other side re games that came along afterwards isn’t resident evil at all, capcom should have just started a new franchise completely and make those kinda action games, why u think the sudden change in gameplay now after all these years, sales have been mighty low, and capcom, rather than continue on a s*itty path are listening to their fans n giving them what they want ( and to get better sales obviously) resident evil 8 won’t be in 3rd person that era is over! its finally focusing on plot, horror and survival! you should give re 7 a try! and if u don’t like it u won’t like re 8! unless they do like they did skyrim and several other games where u have the option for 1st or 3rd person view, but the gameplay will not go back to the way it was before unfortunately! thats a given fact!

  • I think many new generation games coming in 1st and 3rd person view. gta 5 was good for both view so Capcom should make re8 in both view. you will play as you like I will play as I like. but what about those characters?

  • I honestly think they should put it back to where resident evil started I like how it’s third person and I like how they have so many characters like Chris, Jill, Leon, and so many More. I really don’t like resident evil 7 tbh I think they should start it off where they left it on resident evil 6. That’s my opinion

  • I have to say… I loved the first 3 resident evil games. I have unfortunately never played number 4 but heard that it’s very good. I don’t think I’ll go back and play it as the time has past and i struggle to play all the games I want to as there is so much content out there.

I thought Resident Evil 5 was an okay game but it didn’t feel like Resident Evil at all. Resident Evil 6 I tried and turned it off after 10 minutes because it’s a bag of shit. I think Capcom realised it’s a bag of sh*t afterwards through feedback from fans.

I played Resident Evil 7 VR on playstation and have to say it is one of the best VR and Resident evil experiences I have ever had and I hope every Resident Evil going forward is like this at it’s core. The acting and dialog felt real, no more cheesy American voice overs. It was a truly genre defining terrifying experience.

I have sold my PS4 VR and bought a HTC vive and will be buying it again on PC when the VR version is out as I’m hoping for improved graphics.

I really don’t agree we should go back to third person view. It’s not the natural progression of the genre and would be a backwards step. Yes, you could argue that the originals were third person but once you have played in VR I think it would take away from the experience if you had the option to change cameras in game.

I’d love to see in the future a complete remake of the original resident evil games in VR… But mainly I hope with the next game they don’t do what every Movie company or game company thinks they need to do when creating the next version… and that is adding a fu*k load of explosions, guns and unrealistic monsters.

One thing I didn’t like about RES 7 was the Black Monsters. When it was humans I was running from it felt more realistic.

Stick to scary characters, zombies, and scary environments. Keep it somewhat realistic… like, this could actually happen.
