Resident Evil 7 Random Freezing solution:

It was noted that you need to go back to the main menu everytime to change the settings, you should never change settings while playing the game. Also, you will have to ignore Alt Tabbing completely which will freeze the game. If still you are facing freezing problem in Resident Evil 7 then go to the main menu and use the below settings:

1. Frame Rate: Variable
2. Windowless Border Mode
3. VSync: OFF
4. Textures: Medium (do not attempt to go higher as you will get massive stuttering, just start with low and go with high settings at a time)
5. Shadow Cache: ON

Resident Evil 7 Crashing Fix:

If the game is crashing with the message Api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing then you need to reinstall the C++ library available at this link, as it is required for Windows 7 and 8 OS.

If the game is giving error message MFplat.dll and/or MFreadweite.dll or missing then you have to download a free media feature pack available at this link.

If Resident Evil 7 crashes after intro video on your pc, then it could be possible that the hardware in your PC doesn’t support SSE4.2. But in the future a patch might be available to solve this crashing issue. In the meantime you will have to upgrade your hardware to play this horror game.

Other things you can do is change your screen resolution or refresh rate similar to that of in-game. The game usually shows black screen if it is running in a higher resolution than supported by your monitor.

At this time, many players are facing stuttering and frame rate dropping issues in Resident Evil 7. The only fix for this solution for the time being is to Turn Textures to Medium and Shadows to High in the game setting. There should be a patch available soon to fix this issue.
