Report: Cyberpunk 2077 pre-production till 2016 has been dumped
The user of NeoGAF called as “Boskee” has found that the Game Director of Cyberpunk 2077 has been changed in the middle of last year, after the CD Projekt RED team has completed work on the expansion of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.
It’s not just that CD Projekt RED has to hurry with the development of their next big role playing game of Cyberpunk 2077, but there are indications now that the development has been set back further.
According to some speculations reported by the same NeoGAF user, the pre-production of the game could be restarted from scratch in the middle of last year, although there are no concrete argument about it and simply replacing the Game Director is not a way to say that the work done previously was totally trashed by the new executive.
So far, it is not very serious, except that the insider in question reveals to us that the whole of the pre-production dating before 2016 was put in the thrash. This could include elements of game design, script, artworks, etc. This would definitely mean that the development has been resumed to zero or almost a year.
Recently, CD Projekt RED has said that the development of Cyberpunk 2077 will proceed properly, however the company has no announcement scheduled for 2017, during the current year the studio will focus on Gwent The Witcher Card Game.
Finally, for the interested parties, the official site of CD Projekt has launched a job offer that clearly implies the arrival of a mobile version for Gwent Online (experience required on iOS, Android and Windows Phone).
What do you think this means for the project? Let us know in the comment section below.
