Bad news for Alan Wake fans, who all at this point for the second chapter, Alan Wake 2, will have to wait for quite a while, if it ever comes to light. At least, it is in this sense that the statements of Thomas Puha, of Remedy Entertainment, must be interpreted.
During PAX East, Puha revealed the following: “We were working on Alan Wake 2 years ago and it just didn’t pan out, so there’s nothing – we’re just booked solid for the next couple of years, really. We do own the Alan Wake IP, but it’s never quite as simple as that, but yeah, we do own it.”
For the moment, therefore, there is little hope of seeing Alan Wake 2, as Remedy is also busy finishing another highly anticipated game called Control. Puha was also asked if he was planning a sequel to the shooter that he is currently working on.
“A lot of the things that Remedy has done in the last five years is really about putting the company into a position where we have more control,” Puha said. “I mean, the name [of the game] really comes almost from that, and it’s giving us, as a company, the opportunity to decide what happens when the game is out. So, of course, we’re always trying to build a franchise.” The idea is in short, according to Remedy, although in the end Puha admitted that in order to think of a future for the game, the first chapter must be really good and therefore in this sense it depends on all the efforts of the company.
