PUBG Player Count Drops Significantly on PC
The player count of PUBG on PC has decreased for the first time in February of this year. The success of the title had a meteoric rise, which allowed it to set records in terms of concurrent players on Steam.
However, with the arrival of new titles of the genre and other important releases, the community has lost some interest in PUBG. We tell you this because its base of concurrent players has declined significantly during the last 5 months.
If we take data as of January of this year, its concurrent user base decreased approximately 50%. Despite this, the popularity of the game remains on Steam, where it continues as one of the best sellers. In mid-January, PUBG had 3,236,027 concurrent players on the Valve platform. This was a great milestone, as it managed to overcome important titles such as Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
However, its maximum mark of the last 24 hours reached 1,564,028, according to SteamCharts. This does not necessarily imply that the fame of the title will fall, because it must be taken into account that PUBG has been in the market for approximately 1 year.
So, it is normal that players are also interested in other recent titles. In addition, the initial popularity always reaches brands that are hard to come back in the future. Of course, it should not be ruled out that the popularity of games like Fortnite, whose Battle Royale mode is free, has something to do with the decrease of concurrent players in PUBG.
Fortunately, PUBG Corp. will continue to support the title to win more and more players. Recently it enabled a new temporary mode and prepares the arrival of Sanhok, the new map of the game.
PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is available on Xbox One and PC.
