The next major update of the PlayStation 4 firmware will be available starting tomorrow for all players. Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that version 4.50 for the system will be released on March 9 and also shared the corresponding features through its official blogs.
In addition to the new functions that we had already made some time ago, we now have new information. For example, you can now use external hard drives to extend the storage capacity of the console. You only have to take into account that the external HDD will have to have USB 3.0 connection or higher and that must be between 230 GB and 8 TB.
Note that to use the external hard drive you will have to configure it from the Settings menu, where you have to select it as a USB Storage Devices; this will cause the device to be formatted and ready to receive the contents of PlayStation. Just take into account that this will remove any files you have on the disk previously.
Another important addition is the improvement of the resolution of the Cinematic Mode in PlayStation VR, which will allow you to enjoy more widely 2D images through the virtual reality headset. And if that was not enough, you can now customize the wallpaper of your PS4 with the ability to select any image to set as wallpaper.
There will be also support for sharing animated GIFs, an exclusive Boost Mode for PlayStation 4 Pro and a major update for PS Messages and PS Communities apps.
