PlayStation 4 continues with excellent results at the commercial level. Sony today shared a new financial report of the first quarter of the current fiscal year, so we know that PS4 has a new record in sales.
The console distributed 3.2 million units from April 1 to June 30. This implies that their total sales went from 79 million, a figure reached in March of this year, to 82.2 million consoles sold worldwide.
According to the information, the distribution of the console during that quarter has decreased by 100,000 units year-on-year. However, this is due to the trend of the life of the system.
Despite this, Sony’s revenues increased significantly thanks to PlayStation. The company had excellent results in both hardware and software sales.
Thanks to this, Sony has increased its financial expectations for March 2019. Previously, the company said it expected to reach the total number of 95 million consoles sold for that period.
However, given the good results, Sony now trusts that it will be able to reach the 96 million units of consoles sold. In addition, Sony expects its profits to skyrocket in the coming months and to March of next year.
“Sales are expected to be significantly higher than the April forecast primarily due to higher-than-expected PlayStation 4 (“PS4”) software sales including sales through the network, the impact of foreign exchange rates, as well as an expected increase in PS4 hardware unit sales,” commented the company.
In related news, Sony is already working on PlayStation 4 firmware 6.0. The new system version will have a Beta, so we will have to wait to see what all new things will be included in it.
