Report: PS4 Will Finally Allow Cross-Play With Nintendo Switch & Other Consoles
Everyone knows that Nintendo and Microsoft joined their paths in cross-play a while ago. However, Sony decided to stay aside at that time with its PS4, but that does not mean that it is not interested in getting into the multiplatform gaming world.
Although at the time, the CEO of Sony Kenichiro Yoshida said that “PlayStation is the best place to play,” the company began taking its steps into cross-play through an open beta focused exclusively on Fortnite. Now, according to a report by Wired, Sony would be ending this beta in order to offer cross-play between platforms.
“While it’s not announcing the news explicitly, the PS4’s cross-play efforts have officially moved out of the beta stage, meaning that the console can support cross-play on any titles that studios provide the functionality for,” the report said. “This month’s Modern Warfare may be the first major title to take advantage of it at launch, and likely won’t be the last.”
It will be necessary to be attentive to see how the situation evolves and see if finally the players of Nintendo Switch and other consoles can play with those of PS4 players.
