PS Plus: PES 2019 Removal Was Sony’s Decision, Konami Surprised

As every month end, during the last week of June, the games of July 2019 included in the PS Plus subscription were presented. The two titles proposed were PES 2019 and Horizon Chase Turbo, a nostalgic arcade driving title. Arrived on the first Tuesday of the month, however, the PlayStation fans were taken by surprise: instead of the football game. Detroit: Become Human in a special version was included, with Beyond: Two Souls included.

A change occurred without warning. The players were surprised, but they are not the only ones. It seems that even Konami was not aware of the decision. A spokesman for the Japanese company stated, in fact, to GameSpot: “This decision was made by Sony and so please make an inquiry to Sony.”

Sony said: “We have decided to make a change to the PS Plus games lineup this month, and will be offering Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition instead of PES 2019. This was a decision we decided to make as a company, and we apologize for any inconvenience.” A somewhat generic justification that does not make us understand the exact reason why the company has decided to make this change.

On the day of the change, PES’s European brand manager, Lennart Bobzien, stated that it had not been planned and that it caught Konami by surprise. “I cannot really tell you what happened because I just found out today, in the morning when I opened my laptop. I can’t really explain.”

The change might have pleased some fans, but certainly not at all. Tell us, have you enjoyed the games, or would you have preferred to receive the sports game in the July PS Plus?
