Recently Atsushi Morita, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan was interviewed by Famitsu and stated that the strategy around the console of Sony has been successful, representing a step forward in its attempt to reach the levels of sale of the legendary PlayStation 2.
According to the information revealed by the Famitsu interview, Atsushi Morita considers the fiscal year 2016 in Japan as a success, which ended last March, as they were able to handle the feedback received, based on the lack of new titles for PS4, which led the company to work hard to launch more titles in the year.
Along with this, the strategy of supporting PS4 included the launch of PS4 Pro and a price reduction for the basic model in the country, which made it more accessible. Atsushi Morita revealed that during fiscal year 2016, PS4 had 50 titles that exceeded the 100 thousand units sold in Japan, double of that of the previous fiscal year.
In this way, the president of SIE Japan considered that they have achieved great sales of hardware and now of games, fulfilling the second step of the plan that tries to arrive at the level of success of PlayStation 2.
