PlayStation VR will not be released in Latin America until 2017
If you were hoping PlayStation VR was going to come in October or it was part of your wish list for Christmas, the Latin Americans need to better change their plans. Sony announced that its virtual reality device of PlayStation VR will not be released in Latin America until 2017.
In a recent talk with LevelUp, Jaime Casis, Regional Manager of PlayStation for Latin America, said the plan is to launch Sony PlayStation VR until the next fiscal year (from April 2017 to March 2018). This is because Sony plans to launch each with the situation of each market in mind.
“For the launch in Latin America [the PlayStation VR] is not coming at par with the US launch. It is a matter of strategy; we are planning to come out in the next fiscal year. Each release is defined based on the situation of each market,” Casis said.
The PlayStation VR comes to the US and Europe on October 13 and will cost $399 USD. Before the year ends, the virtual reality device will feature a lineup of more than 50 titles, among which there are Batman: Arkham VR, DriveClub VR and RIGS.
Having said that, the headset is not the only hardware of the PlayStation family that will reach international markets in 2016. A few weeks ago PlayStation 4 Slim debuted, while in mid-November players who want a console with a little more power will find it in the PlayStation Pro.
