The co-founder of Arkane Studios, Harvey Smith, has expressed that “Players will not understand Dishonored 2 till they play it twice.”

During an interview with the website Finder, Smith was asked whether at the beginning of each mission, players can choose to play as Emily or as Corvo.

“At the beginning of the game you play as Emily for a moment,” he explains. “Then there is a branching moment and you choose either Corvo or Emily, and you are stuck with that for the rest of the game.”

This means that each character is on their side, which favors having to start a second game to discover the whole story.

“In Dishonored you cannot see everything at once. You probably only see 25% of the game if you play it once,” he continued saying. “I think players won’t understand Dishonored 2 till they play it twice, because there is so much overt conversation that you can miss, and lore to read and even just understanding the environment’s impact on the storytelling.”

Dishonored 2 is debuting 15 years after the first installment, and we are offered to choose between Emily and Corvo as playable characters, presenting both of their skills and very different styles of play, focusing more toward stealth and the other towards combat. The title will arrive on November 11 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
