Phil Spencer: The power of Scorpio is not measured only by Teraflops
Phil Spencer talked about Xbox Scorpio during a recent interview published on Stevivor pages. The head has asked the responsible of the Xbox division in what terms would illustrate the power of the console, but not limited to talk about Teraflops.
Project Scorpio promises to become the most powerful console ever with their 8 Teraflops. But what are they? It is now explained by the boss of Xbox Phil Spencer.
PS4 Pro is currently characterized by 4.2 Teraflops, and already you can see a richer graphics detail in the resolutions to 1080p. Project Scorpio promises instead of owning as much as 6 Teraflops, making this the most powerful console of all time and one that will bring the “true 4K “in the homes of gamers, according to Microsoft.
But what is in effect a Teraflops? It was recently explained by the Xbox boss Phil Spencer, during an interview at Stevivor.
This is the response of Spencer: “Well, I try not to really talk using the term. It’s like a car — you wouldn’t describe how fast it goes using only one characteristic. But I guess it’s like a teraflop is like horsepower — you’d probably have in your head what 100 horsepower could do, or 200.”
“But it’s much more than that — there’s other things that dictate how fast the car goes. A transmission. Its weight. It’s the same with Scorpio; it’s not just the number of teraflops that makes it powerful.”
Phil Spencer has also stressed that in his view the right terms to describe Scorpio is “part of the Xbox family,” just a new piece of Microsoft’s gaming ecosystem.
