Phil Spencer Reacts on the Split Between Bungie and Activision

Phil Spencer of Microsoft has commented on Twitter the split between Activision and Bungie, as well known the two companies have separated their streets with the studio of Seattle that is now the only owner of the rights on the franchise of Destiny.

This is the message of Phil Spencer: “Looking forward to a very bright future working with one of my favorite independent studios on one of my favorite franchises. Excited to see how they continue to grow and evolve Destiny.”

According to reports, what looks like a generic message of good wishes for the future may actually hide something else. The words used by Spencer would make one think of an arrow against Activision but a personality of his caliber certainly has no interest in going against one of the most important publishers in the world.

On the other hand there are those who think that the message wants to allude to a closer collaboration between the two parties (Microsoft and Bungie), although this speculation is not currently supported by any specific clue.

It’s true that the house of Redmond is recently buying several independent studios (think of Ninja Theory, inXile Entertainment and Obisidian) but it does not seem that Bungie is in the company’s mind, easier to think about exclusive time agreements on Destiny 3 or maybe on additional content.
Bungie has maintained the rights to Destiny IP, but it remains to be seen what will become of the marketing contracts signed by Sony and Activision for the promotion of the franchise on PlayStation.
