Epic Games Store continues to strive to attract audiences to its platform. While they have sown the controversy with its fair amount of exclusive, free games or the recent purchase of Psyonix (developers of Rocket League), the company continues to add new games to its library. This time Mobius Digital, the responsible studio of Outer Wilds, has assured that this title will arrive to the Epic Games Store.
Outer Wilds was announced a few months ago as an adventure and space exploration title, reminding us of the approach of No Man’s Sky. Recently, its developers have confirmed through an update on their Fig page, that their work will land first on Xbox One and PC via Epic Games Store. From the studio, they have assured that their goal is to bring Outer Wilds to “your preferred platform as quickly as possible,” referring to Steam and other consoles.
“Throughout the development of the game, we’ve welcomed helpful partnerships with Annapurna Interactive, Xbox, and Epic to support us and keep our small studio running long enough to ship the game at the level of quality that it is today. Each of these partnerships has enabled us to make the game better and more accessible for everyone who will play it,” the studio mentioned in the statement.
Outer Wilds will arrive on Xbox One and PC during this same year, although without a confirmed release date. Epic Games is gaining ground little by little, facing the great and established platform par excellence on PC: Steam.
As a related note, we must mention another of the titles that will come as an exclusive to the Epic Games Store with Uplay: Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Is this strategy good enough to have the level of Steam influence in the market? Tell us in the comments below.
