Okami Sequel Confirmed by Hideki Kamiya
Platinum Games were not deceiving when they said they were working on several unannounced games, but nobody imagined that one of them could be Okami Sequel, a title that several of the current creatives of the studio, among which is Hideki Kamiya (director of the original), contributed to design. It has been published by Ikumi Nakamura, ex of Tango Gameworks, on his official Twitter account, although it is not clear if it is really a confirmation or a joke.
The artist, who worked on The Evil Within and other Platinum Games projects, appears in the video with Hideki Kamiya himself. “Okami is going to be back!” He says in the tweet. “We want to make Okami sequel and fans are looking forward to it too. You guys want to see Kamiya’s Okami again, right, everyone? I want to work on it too!”

Since the closure of Clover Studio, the team responsible for video games such as Viewtiful Joe or God Hand, many of its members left Capcom to found Platinum Games. Since then, many have asked for the return of this title, starring a wolf who lives his adventure in a world of very precious color. The Japanese company, however, had not completely abandoned the franchise, as the remastering of Okami was marketed in this generation of consoles.
However, it should be noted that in its annual report, Capcom warned that it had in mind to recover old franchises that had remained fallow, while wishing to publish new remakes of its old glories. Not for less, the premiere of Resident Evil 2: Remake has been very successful; Devil May Cry 5 – this time a new installment – has also provided benefits to the company. Now, Okami will finally receive its desired sequel.
