Feargus Urquhart, executive director of Obsidian, said that Microsoft is interested in working with and collaborating with various studios.
According to the director, the medium-sized studios, in terms of size and development, are in the interest of Microsoft, which seeks to bring new games to Xbox One. For this reason, the company has invested in companies of this type, which corresponds to the level of Obsidian and Ninja Theory, for example.
During the interview with Eurogamer, Urquhart stated that Microsoft is not only looking for new talent but also generating relationships to bring valuable exclusives to their systems. The director commented that they are looking at these types of companies since, as a rule, its developments are faster than the great AAA productions.
This work strategy corresponds to what Microsoft is doing with Bluehole for the launch of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One. We hope that Microsoft will be able to create new relationships with other studios that translate to exclusive titles for Xbox One.
Meanwhile, the company is preparing the launch of Xbox One X, which will debut on November 7 at $499 USD.
