Nvidia now offers a new GeForce Game Ready 388.00 driver certified for Destiny 2 and Assassin’s Creed Origins even though the 385.41 version, released this summer for the beta of the game, already included the main optimizations.
In this GameReady 388.00 driver, Nvidia would have made some additional optimizations in terms of performance and confirmed that the following technologies are supported: SLI, Whisper Mode, G-SYNC, DSR, GameStream, Share capture interface, Optimal automatic settings (OPS) of GeForce Experience, etc. NVIDIA does not say much more about these optimizations but offers a complete guide that explains how to get the best possible performance in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 will be released tomorrow, October 24, 2017, but can also be obtained “for free” thanks to the bundle that NVIDIA offers for any purchase of a GeForce GTX 1080 or GTX 1080 Ti graphics card at some partner resellers before November 29, 2017. A coupon to use in the GeForce Experience application allows you to download the complete game.
The changelog of these 388.00 drivers also mentions the support of the title of Assassin’s Creed Origins, which will be released on the weekend on October 27, 2017. NVIDIA is not very talkative about supported technologies but explains that a profile has been added to prevent the activation of 3D Vision mode.
These 388.00 drivers are part of the same R387 branch as the previous 387.92 WHQL version. The drivers, therefore, take the same improvements as the support of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (1709) and its WDDM 2.3 model, OpenGL API 4.6, Fast Sync for SLI configurations, etc.
The hotfix 387.98 fixes are also the part of this 388.00 release namely the good support for Alienware’s GM204-based notebook PCs and the fix for the slowdowns of mobile GTX 1080s that use a G-SYNC external monitor (DOOM, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, The Witcher 3).
