NPD: List of Top-Selling Third-Party Games of All Time in the USA

231

What are the best-selling third-party games on consoles in the US? The answer comes directly from Matt Piscatella of NPD Group.

The analyst’s data starts from 1995 as far as physical copies are concerned, while in the case of digital versions the first data are from 2012. Before seeing the rankings, it must be emphasized that not all publishers have shared complete data and that the position in the ranking is defined by the earnings calculated in dollars until May 2019.

  1. GTA V
  2. Call of Duty Black Ops
  3. Call of Duty: Black Ops II
  4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  5. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
  6. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
  7. Rock Band
  8. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  9. Call of Duty: Ghosts
  10. Call of Duty: WWII

Let’s move on to the best-selling games on Nintendo consoles:

  1. Guitar Hero World Tour
  2. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
  3. Just Dance 2

  6. LEGO Star Wars: Complete Saga

In this case, Piscatella informs us that if we also included the first party Nintendo games, these ten titles would not appear in the ranking: no precise numbers are indicated, but we can state that no third-party game has sold as much as Nintendo titles.
