After a short delay, the NPD Group released its monthly video game sales report in the United States. In it, we learned that Destiny 2 not only managed to become the most popular game of September, but it is the most popular release of the region so far this year.
While not revealing how many copies sold, it is a fact that Destiny 2 was the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for which more physical copies shipped throughout September. This was enough to outdo Ghost Recon: Wildlands as the most popular of the year and get the place of the third most successful game of the last 12 months.
The source also claims that Destiny 2’s revenue in its first month (taking into account physical and digital sales) was better than the first title.
On the other hand, the report notes that NBA 2K18 managed to become the most popular sports title of the year. In addition to that, 2K Sports has another reason to celebrate, since the basketball title has been the sports game that enjoyed the “largest consumer spend in launch month of any sports genre title” since the launch of PS4 and Xbox One.
