In an interview yesterday by Kotaku, a representative from Nintendo answered some of the questions they asked him about the new Nintendo console and revealed more details of what we can expect this March 3, when Switch goes on sale.

Although the representative was questioned on various issues, the middlemost answers and with more information were: the possibility of backward compatibility, the use of user accounts (existing and new) and the downloads made in Switch.

In the first point, the questions focused on the possibility that Switch was backwards compatible with games of other systems of Nintendo to which the representative responded concretely: “The Nintendo Switch system is not backward compatible with games designed for other systems, and is not currently compatible with controllers designed for other systems. Support for certain controllers may be considered for a future update. We have nothing to announce regarding Virtual Console or other types of digital purchases at this time.”

In the second point, the representative was questioned about the future of accounts and downloads that have been made so far on Wii U, 3DS and a likely relationship with Switch, especially thinking that the new console has its own Virtual Console without linking with the existing ones, but the answer in this sense was: “We have nothing to announce for now”.

Finally, in the third issue, concerning the download of content and the relation that will keep with a user account and the disappearance of the region lock, the representative replied: “The Nintendo Switch system is not region locked, but we recommend that players buy games within their region to ensure full service and support. The user will access the Nintendo eShop that corresponds to the country identified in their Nintendo Account. (Up to eight user accounts can be created on a single Nintendo Switch system.)”
