No one can deny that Nintendo Switch debuted on the right foot and success has accompanied it in all the next steps it took in its 2 years and 7 months of life. This current Nintendo console is a worldwide success and to account for it, today it was revealed that Europe is one of the markets that have contributed the most in its popularity.

Through a statement in a press release, the president of Nintendo Europe, Stephan Bole, announced that Nintendo Switch has already exceeded the mark of 10 million units in this continent. In this year, hardware sales had an increase of 30% compared to last year and 40% compared to 2017 figures.

The popularity of the hybrid system was definitely reflected in the software, as it was also announced that since its launch, in March 2017, more than 36 million games have been sold in the region. Among the most popular are 9 Nintendo exclusive: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Party, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and 1-2-Switch, each of them with more than 1 million copies sold. As for titles of external developers, Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane, Stardew Valley and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle are the ones that have sold the most, with more than half a million units sold.

“The Nintendo Switch family of consoles is being enjoyed by millions of players across Europe, and passing such a major milestone is testament to its broad appeal. European sales of Nintendo Switch hardware and software are growing significantly each year, and existing and new console owners have a wealth of titles to choose from, with plenty more on the way,” said Bole.

The success of this console is not limited to Europe. At the beginning of the year we learned that the console had managed to sell more than 36 million units in just over 2 years in the market. In Japan it is approaching 10 million, so, taking into account the known data, America has contributed with the remaining 14 million, which we do not doubt that there are many millions more due to the months that have passed.
