Nintendo Switch Sells Over 3 Million Units in Japan

After the data offered by Media Create in the weekly sales registered in Japan, it is confirmed that Nintendo Switch has sold more than 3 million units in Japan.

The Nintendo console was launched last March and has achieved superior success in a shorter period of time than the company’s previous machine, Wii U.

Nintendo Switch would have sold 3,178,100 units in Asia since its launch last March. While the company has been very cautious when it comes to cataloging it as a success, the console would be seeing a commercial performance with these figures far superior to that of Wii U in all of its lifespan in just a few months. We remind you that Wii U is placed in a total of 3.32 million consoles, a figure that is very close to being overcome.

But hardware by itself is not the key. While there are no clear precedents as claimed by the company, the console has sold especially well for software distributed and marketed in Japan. Video games such as Splatoon 2 have managed to sell 1,292,281 units, Super Mario Odyssey has placed 1,292,281 copies and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, has managed to do the same with 1,045,438 copies.

One of the games of the year, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – which also came out for Wii U – sold 738,026 units in the hands of consumers.

Nintendo announced that the machine had sold 10 million units globally recently. The figure could have been very outdated because there are many analysts who spoke of more than 11 million consoles by the end of 2017.
