Nintendo Switch Exceeds 36.8 Million Consoles Sold
Nintendo has published its financial report for the second quarter of 2019 Q2/FY2019 and has therefore updated the sales of consoles and video games accumulated from its current main system, Nintendo Switch, which reaches 36.87 million units sold.
In total, Nintendo has shipped 2.13 million units across the globe since last April (when it was at 34.74 million units). This figure, although positive compared to other years, is below its main competitor, PS4, which dispatched 3.2 million consoles this spring quarter.
At the software level, Nintendo continues to see green shoots, especially in the first party field, which accounts for 74.1% of the total games sold on Switch. According to the report, 210.13 million games have been sold, a ratio of 5.7 games per user.
With regard to specific games, the best selling title of the console, for now, is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which now has more than 17.89 million games; Therefore, 48% of Nintendo Switch players have the eighth episode of the saga.
The forecast for the year 2020, which began on April 1 and ends on March 31, 2020, is that Nintendo Switch reaches this same point in twelve months with 18 million more units, which would raise the figure to about 50 million units in just over three years for sale.
With regard to digital sales, in the last quarter the percentage has risen by 65.3% over the previous year, standing at more than 30 million yen coming solely from revenue through the eShop; not to confuse the act with the total percentage of sales coming from the digital sector, which has not transcended. Nintendo Switch Online continues with more than 10 million subscribers.
We remember that this month of September Nintendo Switch Lite will be launched worldwide, a more compact, lightweight and economical model; also, from September the current model will be replaced with an identical one but with an updated CPU, which will guarantee that the battery life is longer.
